1. General information
The aim of the subject Territorial Policies in the Spanish regions is to study the elements and the physical, human and territorial landscapes of Spain, paying attention to the geographical bases of its regional structure and its articulation within the framework of the territorial policies implemented by each community.
Access requirements: The student must have basic knowledge of physical geography and human geography and it is advisable to have taken the subject Geography of Spain: structure and territorial organization.

2. Learning results
The learning results acquired in this subject are basic for the training of the geographer and for modelling geographical problems in general, because they combine the acquisition of specific skills of a disciplinary or professional nature with others of an academic nature, through which students are encouraged to reflect on the territorial and socioeconomic aspects that give meaning to the Spanish regions, as well as the interrelationships that exist between them.
In order to pass this subject, the students shall demonstrate they has acquired the following results:
- Describe the natural, human and economic factors that organise the regional structure of Spain, being able to analyse the historical processes and the factors that have led to the current territorial structure.
- To analyze and explain the different territorial policies followed by the Spanish regions.
- Identify and characterize the territorial imbalances that manifest themselves at different scales and the factors that cause them.
- Identify the principles on which regional development policies and proposals are based in Spain, in relation to those of the EU and the Autonomous Regions.
- To recognize the territorial repercussions derived from the current organization of the state and the socioeconomic ones related to the integration in the European Union.
- To correctly use the methods of territorial analysis at a regional scale, as a basis for its subsequent application to territorial and environmental planning.
- Search, select, interpret and critically evaluate the different sources of information available on the Spanish territory.

Unit 5. Regional imbalances in Spain.
Unit 6. Territory, Autonomous State and European Union.
Unit 7. Territorial policies: fundamentals.
Unit 8. Territorial policies in Spain: background.
Unit 9. Territorial policies in Spain today.
Unit 10. Territorial policies of the Autonomous Communities.
4. Academic activities
The learning process designed for this subject has a theoretical and theoretical-practical orientation, as the programmed activities are based on the lectures given in the classroom by the teacher, in conjunction with practical work sessions in the classroom and outside it, as the students must work on the search, analysis and systematisation of the information provided by the teacher, as well as information obtained by themselves.

5. Assessment system

- Learning portfolios: 40 % of the grade.
- Completion of a final exam: 60% of the grade.
b) Global assessment test
- Completion of a final exam: 60% of the grade.
- Elaboration of an individual work: 20% of the grade.
- Learning portfolio: 20% of the grade.

Assessment criteria: precision and rigor of the answers in relation to the questions, in addition to the order and clarity of the written expression.
The subject cannot be passed if a grade of at least 5 out of 10 is not obtained in each of the evaluable elements.
Students who are unable to attend the internship for a justified and duly accredited reason, should contact the professor to establish a specific apprenticeship contract.
